The Automated Campaign Creation (ACF) tool was born out of the need to simplify the ad creation process for Pinterest’s SMB advertisers. With the manual campaign creation flow in Ads Manager involving too many steps and complexity, we identified an opportunity to drive higher completion rates and improve overall campaign performance. The goal was to provide advertisers with a streamlined alternative that reduced the friction of ad creation. ACF offered an easier, more intuitive experience that resulted in a 3x increase in ad completion rates compared to Ads Manager.
We first launched ACF to sales-managed SMBs and saw a 14% increase in Average Revenue Per Advertiser (ARPA), a 16% increase in Average Revenue Per Campaign (ARPC), and a 33% ad completion rate—far surpassing both Ads Manager (12%) and Quick Promote (18%). Seeing the potential, we set our sights on deploying ACF to unmanaged SMBs to further drive revenue and increase engagement within this critical advertising segment.
